Low Level Light Therapy, or LLLT, is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to support healthier eyelid gland function.
The treatment is designed to help warm and stimulate the meibomian glands — the oil glands in your eyelids that help keep your tears from evaporating too quickly.
Treatment generally consists of 4 sessions of 15 minutes and scheduled 1-2 weeks apart.
During treatment, therapeutic light is applied to the eyelids and surrounding tissue. This light energy may help soften thickened oils, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and support a healthier tear film.

LLLT is comfortable, quick, and performed in-office. It may be used alone or combined with other dry eye treatments depending on your specific diagnosis.
At Vision Source Kerrville, we use LLLT as part of a customized dry eye treatment plan to help improve gland function and support longer-lasting comfort.
